26 Mar Concert Review: Chocala at Snug Harbor Yeeeaaaahhhhh!!! At last!!!! A band with all the young dudes (and lady) laying down the Latin groove! This band is right up my alley, right down to my Mexican wrestling mask! They even pronounce their name CHOCALA! They even write like wrestlers talk! Whoooooooo!!!! This band lays down the guts of the groove and the future of the funk. Am I making alliterative rhymes to describe this band? Hell yes! They’re that good. (And bonus points if you know what alliterative means. If you type words like

22 Mar Dylan Gilbert and John Harrison announce show series Charlotte’s own Dylan Gilbert of Hectorina will be hitting the road the next few months, touring with Chapel Hill musician John Harrison, who is known for his work with The Comas, North Elementary and currently JPhono1. Harrison will be performing songs from his new album “Meadow Magic Hour” while Gilbert will be performing what he describes as “noise-pop solo material” along with songs from Hectorina’s new album “Muck,” which will be released in June.
